Great cigarette package design

cigarette_package_designAlright, so seeing someone having a drag at a bus stop may not be the most appealing sight in the world; however, some of their package design can be. It’s rare that you see cigarette advertising because of the legality issues, but through packaging, many tobacco companies managed to make profit because of their design. Some companies reverted to cigarette cards, collectable cards inside packages, helping them maintain a steady client base. Here’s what I dug up for current tobacco products and accessories:

Respect Red American

Respect Red cigarettes scream the popularized red, black, and white color scheme for a sharp look.

Gladiator Slims Luxe

Gladiator Slims follows a slick dark look. The good? The cigarettes actually look like they belong to the package. It stands out because of the lack of dark cigarette packaging, like 100 people competing for attention with rich, expensive clothing, and the person wearing rags ends up standing out.

Camel Mild Large

The Camels are coming. They always had a rich, vintage look to them with their token camel image on the front. Again, the cigarettes look like they belong with the filter color. The look and feel with the gold and white design gives it a middle eastern vibe. Despite being an American tobacco company, the tobacco was originally imported from Turkey, thus the name and Eastern look.

Avangard No9

Another standout package with the luxurious dark appearance, this time combining gold, black and white. Looks professional, neat pattern on the top.

Marlboro Lights Side

Marlboro Friday didn’t kill the cigarette king’s package. Still has that classic 60’s/70’s ring to it.

Thin package design with a clean, vintage look

Zig-Zag has the tendency to have beautiful package design incorporating nouveau, minimal appearance while using spot inks, holographs, and rolling instructions on the inner flap…and still able to pull off a vintage appeal.

Zig-Zag 225 Orange

A vibrant orange makes the slow burning Zig-Zag’s vintage and vibrant

Off course now all the packages are ruined by the big warning text on them. Gotta love the old days!

That Karo package looks great Hans, thanks for the share. I saw the matchbox design post on Art Club Caucasus as well and it’s undoubtedly inspirational. There’s plenty of matchboxes that have brilliant images on the front
